### Four State Police Officers Put on Leave in Rosarito Following Complaints

In Rosarito, four officers from the State Police have been placed on temporary leave after two formal complaints were filed against them. This development comes after the State Police assumed responsibility for local security on March 7th, replacing the municipal police force.

According to Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, one complaint is under investigation by the State Attorney General’s Office, while another has been submitted to the Internal Control Body of the security department.

Rodríguez stated, “We have received several complaints from the public regarding the State Police. Currently, there are two formal complaints under active investigation.” He also addressed widespread speculation on social media, noting they are being examined, although no additional official reports have been lodged.

The officers in question have been reassigned during the investigation, with Carrillo Rodríguez emphasizing that no concrete evidence has emerged yet linking them to any misconduct. “They have been relocated for safety reasons. There’s no direct evidence against them at this point, but the investigation is ongoing,” he clarified.

The State Police took over Rosarito’s security duties as the 264 municipal officers undergo a vigorous vetting process that includes psychological, medical, and toxicology evaluations, as well as social background checks and polygraph tests. Their firearms are also being examined for proper serial numbers and codes.

This move is seen as a step towards accountability in Rosarito’s law enforcement. Many hope it signals the beginning of a necessary overhaul within the region’s security forces.
