Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th

Mark your calendars for an exciting event in Rosarito this Sunday, March 30th, as “Playa El Bebé” gears up to host the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition. This highly anticipated event is expected to draw a large crowd, with last year’s attendance reaching nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California.

Organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association in collaboration with TJ Fishing Club and supported by SEPESCA BC under the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, this tournament is one of three beach fishing events designed to qualify participants for the State Championship. Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno of TJ Fishing Club are leading the efforts for this exciting day.

The tournament kicks off with registration for participants at 5:00 AM, followed by the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will close at 1:00 PM, providing a window for all anglers who are in line by this time to have their catch counted.

Participants can look forward to competing in various categories including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species. In addition to the competition, there will be raffles, and delicious food made with local fish will be available for all attendees to enjoy.

Interested anglers can find registration details, costs, rules, and prize information by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Further information can be found on the tournament’s website.

To help cover the event expenses, Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial support to the organizers. Those wishing to compete have the option to sign up on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Looking ahead, the competition continues with rounds on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín. The top performers from these rounds will have the chance to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship on September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.

Secondary News: Rosarito’s Sport Fishing Scene on the Rise

As Rosarito prepares for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament, excitement is building throughout the local sport fishing community. Recent years have seen a significant increase in fishing-related tourism in the region, thanks in part to events like the one pivoting around Playa El Bebé.

The Baja California region is becoming renowned for its vibrant sport fishing scene, with anglers from both sides of the border flocking to its shores to partake in the rich marine life that the Pacific Ocean offers. Events such as the upcoming tournament not only promote friendly competition but also boost the local economy by drawing in visitors who dine, shop, and stay in the area.

The growing popularity of these fishing tournaments speaks to the broader appeal of sport fishing as both a competitive and recreational activity in Baja California. Given the success of last year’s event and the promising outlook for this year’s competition, it is clear that Rosarito is cementing its status as a prime sport fishing destination.
