Prepare for the Exciting “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th
Rosarito’s stunning “Playa El Bebé” is set to host the opening round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. Organizers anticipate a significant turnout, given that last year nearly 150 anglers participated from across the region and Southern California.
This tournament is an integral part of the SEPESCA BC official calendar and benefits from the support of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration. The event is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
The tournament is the first of three beach fishing events that will qualify participants for the State Championship. Activities begin at 5:00 AM with angler registration. Official fishing will commence at 7:00 AM, and the weigh-in closes at 1:00 PM. Participants who are in line by this time can still compete.
Categories for prizes include children’s, women’s, mojarra, and various other species. The day will also feature raffles and dishes prepared with local fish. Registration details, costs, rules, and prizes can be obtained by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173 or emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. More information is also available on the TJ Fishing Club website.
Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has supported the event by providing financial assistance to cover expenses.
Participants can register on the day or in advance at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Looking forward, the next stages of the competition will be on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Outstanding performers from these events could represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, held September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
