**Exciting “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament to Take Place in Rosarito on March 30th**
Get your fishing gear ready for the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition, happening at Rosarito’s “Playa El Bebé” this Sunday, March 30th. The event, hosted by TJ Fishing Club representatives Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, promises a day filled with competitive spirit and camaraderie among anglers.
Last year, the tournament attracted nearly 150 fishermen from across Baja California and Southern California. This year’s participation is expected to be just as enthusiastic, if not more. The tournament is part of the SEPESCA BC’s official calendar, with support from Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s office and organization by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association.
The event lineup consists of three selective beach fishing tournaments that serve as qualifiers for the State Championship. Activities will commence at the crack of dawn with registration opening at 5:00 AM, followed by the official start of the competition at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will conclude at 1:00 PM, but anglers waiting in line by then can still have their catch weighed.
Prizes will be awarded in a range of categories including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species. Plus, attendees can enjoy raffles and local fish delicacies. Interested participants can inquire about registration details, costs, and more by contacting the organizers via phone at 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or through email at tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Further details can also be found on the club’s website.
Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has pledged financial support to the event organizers, ensuring a smooth execution for everyone involved. Anglers keen to compete can register in advance at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria, or simply sign up on the day of the event.
Following Rosarito, the subsequent rounds of the state competition will take place on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. The top fishers from these competitions will have the honor of representing Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship occurring on September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
