Prepare Yourself for Rosarito’s “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament on March 30th!
Excitement is building in Rosarito as “Playa El Bebé” gears up to host the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition this Sunday, March 30th. The event promises a great turnout, following last year’s participation of nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California.
The competition is officially part of the Baja California fishing calendar and has the support of both the regional government and the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. This year, the TJ Fishing Club is at the helm of the organization, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
As the inaugural event of three beach fishing tournaments, this competition serves as a qualifier for participants aiming to shine at the State Championship. Enthusiasts will start the day early, with registration opening at 5:00 AM. The fishing action kicks off at 7:00 AM and will continue until the weigh-in closes at 1:00 PM, welcoming any anglers who are lined up by the deadline.
Prizes will be awarded across various categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other fish species. Attendees can also look forward to raffles and enjoy food crafted from local catches.
Those interested in reeling in the fun can find registration details, costs, rules, and prize information by contacting the organizers at 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Further details are available on their website.
Victor Hugo Méndez, leading Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial support to assist with event costs to ensure a successful gathering.
For those looking to join the action, registration is available on the event day or can be completed in advance at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Looking ahead, the subsequent rounds of the state competition are slated for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, managed by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Champions from these events will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship scheduled for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
