Prepare for an Exciting Fishing Challenge at Rosarito’s “El Bebé” Tournament This March 30th

Fishing enthusiasts, mark your calendars! The vibrant town of Rosarito is set to host the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament this Sunday, March 30th, at Playa El Bebé. This much-anticipated event kicks off the series of state fishing competitions in Baja California, with organizers expecting a large turnout. Last year, the tournament attracted approximately 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California.

Supported by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, this year’s tournament is led by the TJ Fishing Club with representatives Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno steering the event.

The tournament is the first in a series of three selective beach fishing competitions that will advance participants to the State Championship. Starting bright and early, anglers can register from 5:00 AM onwards. The official start into the waters begins at 7:00 AM, and to ensure a fair competition, weigh-ins will close at 1:00 PM, allowing all participants in line by that time to have their catches counted.

Enthusiastic participants can look forward to prizes across various categories, including children, women, mojarra, and other species. In addition to the competitive fishing, there will be raffles and delicious local fish dishes available.

Potential participants can gather more information about registration, costs, rules, and prizes through the contact numbers 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by reaching out via email at tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional details are also accessible through their official website.

In a show of support, Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has extended financial backing to the event organizers to help defray event costs. Anglers interested in joining can sign up on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or at Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Upcoming competitions in this series will be held at Sunset Beach in Ensenada on April 27th, organized by Club Pura Vida, and at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín on July 20th, helmed by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top-performing anglers will earn the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco, on September 19-20.
