Prepare for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th

Get ready for an exciting day of fishing at Rosarito’s “Playa El Bebé” on Sunday, March 30th. This tournament marks the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition and promises to gather a sizable crowd. Last year, nearly 150 anglers participated, hailing from both the state and Southern California.

This event is officially part of SEPESCA BC’s calendar, with support from the Baja California Government led by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. The tournament is hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, with Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno at the helm.

The tournament is the kick-off event for three beach fishing competitions that will qualify participants for the State Championship. Activities commence at 5:00 AM with registration, followed by the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in concludes at 1:00 PM, allowing all anglers in line by that time to qualify for the competition.

Participants can look forward to awards in various categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and more. There will also be raffles and food featuring local fish. Those interested in participating can register on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria. More details regarding registration, costs, rules, and prizes are available by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com.

Victor Hugo Méndez, responsible for Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial support to assist with event expenses.

Future rounds of the state competition are set for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, organized by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, hosted by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Successful anglers will have the opportunity to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship on September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
