Four officers from the State Police have been temporarily relieved of their duties in Rosarito amid two formal complaints since the state police took over local security management on March 7th. According to the Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, one of these complaints was directed to the State Attorney General’s Office, while the other was submitted to the Internal Control Body of the security department.

“We have received complaints about the state police. At this stage, there are two formal cases under investigation,” stated Carrillo Rodríguez. He also addressed various allegations circulating on social media, emphasizing that they are being investigated, albeit without any additional formal reports being filed.

**Officers Reassigned Pending Investigation**

Regarding the current status of the four officers, Carrillo Rodríguez explained that they have been reassigned for safety reasons while the Internal Control Body conducts a thorough investigation. “There is no evidence linking these officers to the allegations; however, they have been reassigned as a precautionary measure during the investigation,” he clarified.

Since the beginning of March, the State Police have assumed control of security operations in Rosarito, replacing 264 municipal officers. These municipal officers are currently undergoing various assessments, including psychological, medical, and toxicology evaluations, along with social background checks and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being inspected for any discrepancies in serial numbers and codes.

This situation underscores an emerging trend of accountability within local law enforcement, potentially signaling the start of significant reforms in Rosarito’s security forces.
