### Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints
In a recent development in Rosarito, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily removed from duty following two formal complaints. This comes shortly after the state police assumed responsibility for local security on March 7th.
Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, reported that one complaint has been lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office while another is under review by the Internal Control Body of the security department. “People have come forward with complaints against the state police. There are currently two formal cases being investigated,” stated Carrillo Rodríguez. Additionally, he noted that while there have been allegations on social media, no extra formal reports have been filed as of yet.
As for the four officers in question, Carrillo Rodríguez clarified that they have been reassigned for their safety during the investigation period. “There’s no evidence currently linking them to the accusations, but they have been moved as a precaution while we investigate,” he explained.
Since March 7th, the State Police have taken over security duties in Rosarito, a responsibility previously held by 264 municipal officers who are now undergoing comprehensive evaluations, including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests. Their firearms are also being inspected for serial numbers and codes.
While accountability for officers is a rare occurrence, this action marks a hopeful beginning to cleaning up Rosarito’s security forces.
