**Four State Police Officers Temporarily Relocated in Rosarito Amid Allegations**
In the coastal city of Rosarito, four state police officers have been temporarily reassigned following two formal complaints since the state police assumed local security responsibilities on March 7th. According to Laureano Carrillo RodrÃguez, the Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, complaints were lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office and the Internal Control Body of the security department.
“We have received complaints about the state police, resulting in two official cases we are currently investigating,” Carrillo RodrÃguez stated. He also mentioned that while there are unverified allegations circulating on social media, no additional formal reports have been made.
**Officers Reassigned but No Conclusive Evidence Yet**
Carrillo RodrÃguez clarified that the officers have been relocated for safety reasons during the investigative process spearheaded by the Internal Control Body. “There is no evidence connecting them to the accusations at this point, but their reassignment is a precautionary measure while we investigate,” he explained.
Since March 7th, the State Police have taken over security duties in Rosarito, replacing the 264 municipal officers who are currently undergoing rigorous assessments, including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also undergoing inspections for serial numbers and codes.
While accountability among officers is uncommon, it is a necessary step towards cleaning up Rosarito’s security forces. This reassignment could be the start of critical changes within the department.
