**Four State Police Officers Temporarily Reassigned in Rosarito Amid Complaints**
In Rosarito, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily reassigned following two formal complaints since the state police began overseeing local security operations on March 7th. This situation arises amid efforts to ensure accountability and maintain public trust in the new security structure.
Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, confirmed that one complaint has been lodged with the State Attorney General’s Office, while another has been submitted to the Internal Control Body of the security department. “Citizens have raised concerns about the conduct of the state police. We currently have two formal cases under investigation,” Carrillo Rodríguez stated.
In response to allegations circulating on social media, Carrillo Rodríguez assured the public that these claims are being scrutinized, although no further formal complaints have been filed.
**Officers Reassigned; Investigation Underway**
While investigations continue, the officers have been reassigned for safety reasons. Carrillo Rodríguez emphasized, “There is no conclusive evidence against the officers at this stage, but they have been relocated while we proceed with the investigation.”
Since taking charge of Rosarito’s security on March 7th, the State Police have been evaluating the 264 municipal officers who are undergoing extensive vetting procedures, including psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, as well as social background checks and polygraph exams. Their firearms are also being inspected for serial numbers and codes.
Although such accountability measures are not commonplace, they reflect a potentially promising shift towards greater transparency within Rosarito’s security forces, potentially setting a precedent for future reforms.
