**Four State Police Officers Temporarily Removed in Rosarito Amid Complaints**

In Rosarito, four officers from the State Police have been temporarily taken off duty as investigations proceed following two formal complaints. This development comes in the wake of the state police assuming control of local security on March 7th.

According to the Secretary of Citizen Security for Baja California, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, the complaints have been lodged with both the State Attorney General’s Office and the Internal Control Body of the security department. “We’ve had individuals come forward with concerns about the state police. Two formal cases have been filed, and they are currently under investigation,” Carrillo Rodríguez stated.

He further addressed rumors circulating on social media, mentioning that these are being reviewed, though no additional formal complaints have been filed.

**Officers Reassigned, But No Evidence Yet**

Regarding the situation of the four officers, Carrillo Rodríguez clarified that they have been reassigned to different duties for their safety while the investigation by the Internal Control Body is ongoing. “There is no concrete evidence linking them to the allegations at this point, but they have been relocated during this investigation phase,” he explained.

Since March 7th, the State Police have assumed responsibility for security in Rosarito, replacing 264 municipal officers who are presently undergoing a series of vetting processes. This includes psychological, medical, and toxicology tests, along with social background checks and polygraph exams. Additionally, their firearms are being inspected for serial numbers and codes.

While accountability in law enforcement isn’t always apparent, instances like this show that justice can sometimes emerge unexpectedly. Hopefully, this marks the beginning of necessary reforms within Rosarito’s security forces.
