Rommel Pacheco Marrufo, the General Director of the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), recently took part in the 2024 General Assembly of Associates of the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM). During the event, he emphasized the strong collaboration between Conade and the COM, enhancing Mexico’s athletic progress.
“One of my primary goals is to mend the relationship between Conade and the Olympic Committee, alongside the federations. We will work for and with the athletes and sports in the country,” stated Pacheco. During the assembly, María José Alcalá Izguerra was re-elected as the COM President for 2024-2028.
Pacheco, a former diver, stressed the importance of teamwork through transparency and dialogue, highlighting Conade’s open-door policy. “Our directive from President Claudia Sheinbaum is to provide athletes with the necessary support for both high-performance and community sports. We aim to listen and support athletes, ensuring transparency and tackling corruption, ensuring resources reach athletes,” he added.
Pacheco was part of the assembly presídium, joined by Paola Longoria, head of the Sports Commission in the LXVI Legislature of the Chamber of Deputies.
