**Federal Government Revives ‘Hecho en México’ and ‘Made in Mexico’ Brands**
On February 18, 2025, the Mexican Federal Government announced the relaunch of the ‘Hecho en México’ and ‘Made in Mexico’ brands. This initiative aims to underscore the high-quality standards of products made in the country. Marcelo Luis Ebrard Casaubon, the head of Mexico’s Ministry of Economy, conveyed that President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized the importance of showcasing domestically produced goods to reinforce national capabilities and success.
During the relaunch event, Ebrard CASAUBON highlighted the initiative’s goal to unify and project Mexico’s strength and resilience. Meanwhile, Francisco Cervantes DÃaz, President of the Business Coordinating Council, expressed the private sector’s commitment to increasing national content within exports.
A decree published in the Federation’s Official Gazette outlines that products bearing the ‘Hecho en México’ or ‘Made in Mexico’ labels must be entirely manufactured or assembled with local inputs or developed in the country, irrespective of the input’s origin. Furthermore, manufacturers must demonstrate compliance with one or more Sustainable Development Goals outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development during their production processes.
The certification for using these brands will be awarded after verifying the product meets quality and excellence standards, promoting the nation’s identity and reputation. This certification is valid for five years from the notification date. The relaunch is part of President Sheinbaum Pardo’s “Plan México,” unveiled January 13, 2025.
