During a press conference, Arnulfo Guerrero León, Secretary General of Tijuana’s Government, announced the closures due to the company’s lack of essential safety permits and protocols. “Today, we have closed Plants 1 and 2 because they do not meet the fundamental requirements for operational permits. We are also in the process of ensuring all three plants comply with administrative procedures, including civil protection, fire safety, and land use permits, as required by municipal authorities,” he stated.
Alejandro Arregui, Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare, highlighted that while the government supervises the payment of wages to the company’s 5,000 employees, Prime Wheel has been found lacking in safety and hygiene measures. “The company, given the suspension attributed to management, must pay all workers their wages in full and on time. Employees have the right to receive their due salaries and benefits while these procedures are completed,” Arregui said.
