Baja’s coastal hills are home to some extraordinary talents, and rarely do we get the opportunity to see them all under one roof. The recent staging of “Always, Patsy Cline” at the La Misión Performing Arts, held at the picturesque Quinta Los Delfines, offered the community an unforgettable experience. The setting provided an intimate, almost Grand Ole Opry-like atmosphere where everyone felt connected to the performance.

The musical, based on the true story of Patsy Cline’s friendship with Louise Seger, featured two powerhouse women—Ginevra Altomara as Patsy and Lisa Rath as her friend Louise. Inspired by Cline’s letters, often signed “Love ALWAYS… Patsy Cline,” the show effortlessly drew the audience in with its heartfelt storytelling, demonstrated through an impressive catalog of nearly 100 songs.

Ginevra performed 27 of Patsy’s classics, including “I Fall to Pieces,” “Crazy,” and “Sweet Dreams.” Her stunning vocals and commanding stage presence captivated the audience, leaving many to wonder how she managed to remember all those lyrics and execute multiple wardrobe changes with such finesse.

Lisa Rath shone as Louise Seger, bringing humor and energy that kept the audience engaged and entertained. With her bright personality, each of her dialogues—some as long as 500 words—were delivered flawlessly. Both performances showcased remarkable talent and dedication, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees.

The production was a collective effort that highlighted the contributions of many passionate individuals. Director Danny Ingersoll, who has honed his craft through practical experience, infused magic into every element of the play. The live band, playfully named the “Bodacious Bobcats,” added an authentic feel to the production, with notable performances by musicians such as Miguel Korsa and Bruce Erickson.

Assistant Director Jan Folsom managed the stage seamlessly while Michael Fatica’s set design added charm and authenticity to each scene. The supportive and creative environment also encouraged audience participation, enhancing the overall experience.

After an unforgettable dress rehearsal, the cast headed to Splash for a jam session featuring David Finch, who further showcased his fiddling prowess alongside master guitarist Miguel de Hoyos. These moments highlighted the depth of talent present in Baja, making the community feel incredibly fortunate to have such gifted artists so close to home.

Be sure to keep an eye out for future productions like the Halloween Murder Mystery and other holiday events. You won’t want to miss the magic these talented individuals bring to the stage.
