### Osmar Olvera Achieves Double Olympic Medalist Status
Mexican diver Osmar Olvera has made history by securing a bronze medal in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Competing in the men’s 3-meter individual springboard event, Olvera scored 500.40 points, finishing behind China’s Siyi Xie (543.60) and Zongyuan Wang (530.20), who claimed gold and silver respectively.
With this achievement, Olvera becomes the first Mexican diver to win two medals at a single Olympic edition since Joaquín Capilla in 1956 (gold in platform diving and silver in the springboard). Moreover, he is the first Mexican athlete in any sport to reach this milestone since racewalker Raúl González in 1984 (gold in 50 km and silver in 20 km).
At just 20 years old, Olvera is among the youngest multi-medalists in Mexican Olympic history and the youngest ever in diving. His bronze adds to Mexico’s rich history in Olympic diving, marking the nation’s 17th medal in the sport and the eighth bronze. The last Mexican to win a medal in this category was Fernando Platas, who earned silver in Sydney 2000.
