**Free Music Workshops Announced for Young People in Transition and Refuge Situations**
Young people facing transitional and refuge situations in Tijuana and Mexicali are being offered a unique opportunity to engage with music through free workshops. These sessions, organized by the State Music System of the Institute of Cultural Services of Baja California (ISCBC), aim to provide an inclusive, enriching musical experience for children and teenagers.
The workshops are designed to foster personal development and integrate music into community life. Emiliano López Guadarrama, the operational coordinator of the State Music System, explained that the workshops will cover core musical concepts like rhythm and song creation. No prior musical knowledge is required from participants.
In Tijuana, two different two-month workshops for ages 7 to 17 will be offered. The first takes place at Colegio Salesiano San Juan Bosco every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, while the second is held at the BC Frontera Solidaria Multiservice Center every Tuesday from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Meanwhile, a permanent workshop in Mexicali will be available for children aged 8 to 12 every Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Robledo Community Development Center.
These workshops are free of charge, made possible by a collaboration between the ISCBC, Salesianos, UNICEF, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and other local support organizations. The initiative benefits several neighborhoods in Tijuana, Mexicali, and Primo Tapia in Rosarito.
Participants will be encouraged to explore music through playful and interactive methods, such as games and songs, making the learning process both fun and accessible.
