Morena Expels Montserrat Caballero

The CNHJ of Morena has removed Montserrat Caballero Ramírez for supporting an opposing party’s candidate, violating party statutes, leading to her immediate removal and permanent disqualification.

### Montserrat Caballero Ordered to be Removed from Morena Membership

The National Commission of Honor and Justice (CNHJ) of Morena has decided to remove Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, the Mayor of Tijuana, from the party’s membership list. This decision came after an analysis by the commission members, and it is in response to a petition filed by Francisco Javier Tenorio Andujar, a Congress official and Morena representative.

The CNHJ ruling, issued on September 5, 2024, under the case number CNHJ-BC-881/2024, alleges that Caballero violated Morena’s statutes by supporting PAN candidate Maricarmen Flores in the 2024 electoral process over her fellow party member, Ismael Burgueño Ruiz. Caballero argued against the accusations by presenting confession evidence, claiming that the recordings used against her were manipulated using artificial intelligence and labeling the claims as frivolous.

Despite a conciliation hearing offered on August 2, no further evidence was presented by Caballero, leaving only her confession as her defense. On the other hand, Tenorio Andujar submitted a notarized document validating the recording of the conversation in which Caballero expressed her support for Flores.

The CNHJ members, Donaji Alba Arroyo, Ema Eloisa Vivanco Esquide, Vladímir Ríos García, and Alejandro Viedma Velázquez, found the accusations to be credible. They concluded that Caballero had violated two principles outlined in Morena’s article 51, notably undermining party unity by supporting an opposing party’s candidate.

The commission’s document, a 32-page report, mandates the immediate and definitive removal of Montserrat Caballero Ramírez from Morena’s National Registry of Protagonists of True Change. It also enforces a permanent disqualification from running for any elected office under the Morena banner, even as an external candidate.

Caballero Ramírez has the option to appeal to higher authorities if she wishes to remain within the party.
