Mexicali Valley Night Patrols

“Night operation in Mexicali Valley ramps up security to combat crime surge, prioritizing enhanced patrols in key areas and bolstered presence along the Sonora border.”

**Night Operation in Mexicali Valley Aims to Reduce Crime**

A new security initiative has been launched in the Mexicali Valley, involving collaboration between various government levels to tackle the rising crime rates in the area. The operation focuses on boosting law enforcement presence, especially in the northern part of the valley and the ejidal lands of Baja California’s capital.

Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda stated that the emphasis will be placed on increasing nighttime patrols, as this is when most crimes occur. Additionally, she mentioned a request made to the Naval Secretariat for increased personnel presence near the border with neighboring San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, a hotspot for criminal activity.

“Strengthening our nighttime presence is crucial. The deployment of National Guard and military personnel is in progress, and the Navy is also preparing to reinforce the efforts in the valley and along the Sonora border,” said Governor Ávila Olmeda. She acknowledged that these crimes are partially an outcome of the territorial disputes in Sinaloa between rival groups known as “the Chapitos” and “the Mayiza.”

These efforts are part of a broader strategy to bring peace to the residents of Mexicali Valley amidst the spillover violence from Sinaloa’s conflicts.
