A shooting incident took the life of Carlos Humberto, a 57-year-old man, in the Gran Venecia neighborhood of Mexicali. The fatal event occurred near a residence on Asti Avenue on Wednesday night.

The emergency services received a call reporting a man lying motionless on the road. Upon arrival, the municipal police were informed by a neighbor who heard a man scream “No, no, no” followed by the sound of gunfire. When the neighbor looked out of the window, he saw a man lying beside a pickup truck.

Emergency responders from the Mexican Red Cross arrived shortly after and pronounced Carlos Humberto dead at the scene. He suffered gunshot wounds to his right shoulder and abdomen. Nearby, officers found a gray pistol, along with six spent 9mm casings and three live rounds of the same caliber.

A young man, who identified himself as the victim’s 24-year-old son, approached the scene and told the officers that his father had survived a previous attack months ago in the Xochimilco neighborhood.

The Mexicali public security department is currently investigating leads on two vehicles suspected to be connected with this incident, described as a red sedan and a beige SUV.
