### Rescued in Mexicali: 20 Migrants from North Africa

Twenty individuals from North Africa were rescued from a home in Mexicali, where they were reportedly planning to cross into the United States. This operation followed an anonymous tip-off.

According to the citizen report, people were allegedly being held against their will on Del Manantial Street at the corner with De La Esperanza Avenue, in the Ejido Islas Agrarias Grupo A district. The tip reported hearing unknown language cries from within the residence.

Personnel from the Baja California Citizen Security Secretariat (SSCBC), with support from the National Institute of Migration (INM), conducted an immediate response operation, successfully rescuing the 20 individuals.

Upon interviewing, the rescued migrants disclosed their journey originating in Morocco. Their migratory route began in Egypt, leading them to Madrid, Spain, where they then flew to Nicaragua. From Nicaragua, they traveled to Guatemala, continuing their journey with a train and subsequently a plane to reach Mexicali, Mexico.

Upon arrival in Mexicali, these individuals were expected to pay a significant amount for an irregular crossing into the neighboring country. However, upon their arrival, they lacked further information regarding the crossing.

The rescued individuals have been transferred to the National Institute of Migration (INM) to undergo the corresponding investigation and follow through on the proper procedures regarding their migratory status in Mexico.
