**Attorney Murdered Outside Mexicali Bar**

The tragic incident that unfolded outside the Sume bar in Mexicali’s hotel zone has left the community in shock. On the evening of November 28, 2024, attorney José Luis Camarena Flores was fatally shot by assailants in what appears to have been a targeted attack. The incident occurred around 8 PM as Camarena Flores was presumably leaving a business meeting at a nearby establishment named Workaholic, which shares a parking space with the bar.

Eyewitnesses reported that two men, lying in wait in a white vehicle, were responsible for the assassination. As Camarena Flores exited the building, the suspects unleashed a barrage of gunfire from a long-barreled weapon, leaving the lawyer dead at the scene. Initially, a black BMW was reported, but it was later confirmed that the vehicle was a modern white car. Authorities from the State Citizen Security Force (FESC) quickly located the vehicle and pursued the suspects.

Camarena Flores was recognized as the legal representative of Christian Alexis Mendoza Guillén, alias “el Plaga,” a notorious member of the crime syndicate known as “Los Rusos,” which holds significant influence in Mexicali. In connection to the killing, the FESC detained a man named Brayan García Torres, who was allegedly found with three rifles. However, under Mexico’s legal framework, he remains innocent until proven guilty.

This marks the third homicide in Mexicali that day. Earlier in the morning, a body was discovered in a canal near Cerro Prieto, and another was found hours later floating around the Bomba Cero area.

**Secondary Article: Rising Violence in Baja California**

This recent assassination of attorney José Luis Camarena Flores comes amidst a troubling rise in violence in Baja California. Just last week, another shocking discovery was made when a decapitated body was found in Ciudad Morelos with the head placed in a hat. This escalation of violent acts is raising concerns over the influence and territorial disputes among rival criminal organizations in the region. Authorities are under increasing pressure to clamp down on organized crime and ensure public safety.

Experts point out that these incidents reflect broader security challenges in Mexico, where organized crime groups often strive to assert dominance, leading to violent confrontations and undermining law enforcement efforts. The government is being urged to enhance security measures and foster community engagements to effectively tackle crime in these areas.
