### Antonio Martínez Dagnino Remains as Head of SAT Under Sheinbaum

Antonio Martínez Dagnino will retain his position as the head of the Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT), under the administration of President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. Sheinbaum made the announcement on September 12, 2024, during an interview outside her transition house in Iztapalapa.

“Antonio will stay; he remains in the position, along with practically the entire team at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP),” Sheinbaum confirmed. She further explained that the current Deputy Secretary of Expenditures, Juan Pablo de Botton Falcón, will transition to the Government of Mexico City, and Bertha Gómez Castro, the former Secretary of Finance for the capital, will assume his role.

Sheinbaum emphasized the competency and integrity of her financial team: “They are all very good, honest, and knowledgeable about public finances, closely aligned with our project. I’m very happy to be working with them.”

Martínez Dagnino was initially appointed as the head of SAT by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on October 10, 2022, succeeding Raquel Buenrostro Sánchez, who moved to head the Ministry of Economy. Martínez Dagnino’s background includes a degree in Accounting and a Master’s in Finance from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Prior to his current position, he served as the head of the General Administration of Large Taxpayers within SAT. He also has extensive experience in the Mexican Financial System, particularly in financial derivative instruments analysis, supervision, regulation, and auditing.

The Federal Government detailed that Martínez Dagnino has also worked in the private sector, banking, and held a role as the deputy director of the Directorate General of Financial Groups and Intermediaries at the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV).
