## Making History in Boxing
Since 2021, Martha Nájera has been promoting boxing in Tijuana, becoming the only woman in the region to organize boxing matches. Through her company, Nájera Boxing Promotions, she has hosted high-quality, balanced cards for boxing enthusiasts in the area.
Her most recent event, held at the Evolution bar, was no exception. The card, titled “Al Grito de Guerra II,” surpassed all expectations and filled the venue to capacity with riveting performances from all participants.
In the main event, a showdown between Tijuana and Mexicali took place. Luis Macias from Tijuana was defeated by Anyelo Betancourt from Mexicali in a heated match. The bout, filled with intense exchanges, ended in a unanimous decision for Betancourt, with the judges scoring it 60-54, 60-54, and 59-55.
It’s noteworthy that Anyelo made his professional boxing debut at the age of 15, showcasing his talent in the paid ranks for the first time.
This event marked Nájera’s third boxing card of the year and highlighted the debut of 10 new boxers, underscoring her commitment to providing opportunities to young talents in the region.
“For this event, we had 15 fights, including 10 debutants. The crowd was very engaged, and we had a full house,” said Nájera. “The main event between Tijuana and Mexicali motivated people to attend. Anyelo’s debut was applauded as he triumphed over the Tijuana boxer. We also had matches between boxers from different cities in Baja California, proving our hard work in promoting boxing,” she added.
As the only female boxing promoter in the area, Nájera expressed satisfaction with her career and her company’s achievements in giving young boxers a platform.
Following the success of her latest Patriotic Month event, Nájera Boxing Promotions plans to return in December with their “Christmas in the Ring” event to cap off 2024.
