After an outstanding performance on September 3rd in Mexicali, Luis Miguel, affectionately known as “El Sol de México,” dazzled Tijuana with the first of his two scheduled concerts on the night of Wednesday, September 4th at the Tijuana Football Stadium.

The anticipation for the renowned singer’s concert was heightened due to delays in the rehearsal of his band, led by the Tijuana native Kiko Cibrián. As eager fans lined up at the venue’s main entrances, they faced an hour’s delay before finally being allowed in.

Crowds adorned in merchandise, sunglasses, and light outfits braved the high temperatures as they moved along the stadium perimeter, sporting accessories linked to Luis Miguel’s current tour across Mexico.

The gates opened around 7:00 PM, and excited fans entered their designated sections, rapidly filling the stadium, which was set to accommodate over 22,000 people. Inside, an impressive stage setup with “Luis Miguel Tour 2024” boldly displayed at the south end, flanked by two giant LED screens on the sides and another at the back of the stage, awaited them. The stage was complemented by stairs for the accommodation of the ten musicians and three backup singers accompanying the Mexican superstar.

At approximately 9:10 PM, the stadium lights dimmed, and “Luismi” ascended to the stage, shining to the tune of “No Culpes A La Noche.” Dressed elegantly in a tuxedo, the 54-year-old singer captivated the audience with hits like “Amor, Amor, Amor” and “Suave.”

The nostalgic and romantic atmosphere peaked with fan-favorites like “Culpable o No,” which the crowd sang along to from start to finish. The excitement continued with songs like “Te Necesito” and “Hasta que me olvides,” elevating the energy in the stadium. A medley of “Por Debajo de la Mesa,” “Somos Novios,” and “No Sé Tú” paid tribute to the legendary Armando Manzanero and the era of “Romances.” This was followed by “Sonríe,” with images of Michael Jackson displayed on the screens, in a brief homage to the “King of Pop.”

Mixing things up, Luis Miguel performed “Come Fly With Me” with Frank Sinatra’s classic charm, then delighted fans with a surprise appearance by the Mariachi Vargas. Their trumpets, guitarrones, and violins set the stage for a Mexican segment featuring songs like “La Bikina” and “La Fiesta del Mariachi.”

Smiling throughout and showcasing his signature dance moves with his band, Luis Miguel hit a high note with “La Incondicional,” followed by crowd-pleasers “La Chica del Bikini Azul,” “Ahora Te Puedes Marchar,” and “Cuando Calienta El Sol,” bringing his first Tijuana concert to a triumphant close.

Luis Miguel will perform again in Tijuana tonight, September 5th, before his next show at the Arena Valle de Guadalupe on September 7th, concluding his tour through Baja California.
