Lily Hurtado, a singer hailing from Tijuana, has recently released her latest single, “La Chica Poderosa.” This track not only highlights the strength and value of women but also showcases her sultry style, reminiscent of her previous song “Pégame Cabrón.”

In a recent interview, Hurtado discussed her foray into the world of reggaeton. Traditionally known for her regional Mexican sounds and corridos tumbados, this marks her first exploration into reggaeton, a genre she initially resisted. “Although I was hesitant at first, saying ‘I don’t do reggaeton,’ a collaboration with Baciel sparked creativity between us and gave birth to ‘La Chica Poderosa.’ It’s about a girl who knows her worth and isn’t afraid to show it,” she shared.

Hurtado expressed her belief that Mexican reggaeton is rapidly becoming a significant trend in the music industry. At first, she felt distanced from the genre, but over time, she realized she could incorporate it into her music. “I started to enjoy some of the lyrics in reggaeton and decided to adapt it to my style,” Hurtado explained.

Hurtado also revealed her inspirations and musical influences that began in her childhood. Artists like Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, pop duo Ha-Ash, and Spanish rock band Allison have all shaped her musical tastes over the years.

“When it comes to my music, I strive for authenticity. My songs reflect my real-life experiences, and I prefer lyrics that aren’t explicit because that doesn’t resonate with me or my personality,” she stated.

Looking ahead, Lily will be performing in Tijuana on November 16th at Cheers Bar. She remains deeply proud of her roots, emphasizing, “I am 100% from Tijuana, and I’m always eager to elevate my city’s name. I love my Tijuana so much.”

**The Rise of Reggaeton in the Mexican Music Scene**

As Lily Hurtado experiments with reggaeton, the Mexican music landscape is witnessing a broader trend of artists embracing this genre. Mexican reggaeton is rapidly becoming a cultural phenomenon, merging traditional sounds with modern beats, resonating with a younger audience eager for fresh and dynamic music.

This trend is drawing comparisons to the global explosion of reggaeton in the past decade, with artists from different backgrounds contributing unique flavors to the genre. The blending of reggaeton with regional Mexican elements is not only expanding its audience but also redefining musical boundaries.

Notable artists like Bad Bunny and J Balvin have already established a strong presence in the reggaeton world, and as Mexican artists like Lily Hurtado join the movement, the genre’s influence continues to grow. This fusion promises to push the boundaries of both Mexican traditional music and reggaeton, paving the way for innovative expressions in the music scene.
