**Lawyers Support Judicial Workers’ Strike Despite Challenges**

October 7, 2024 – Tijuana: Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing workers’ strike within the Federal Judiciary, the legal community in Tijuana continues to stand by the federal workers’ decision to halt their activities. Alexander Bazán Gómez Llanos, president of the Tijuana Bar Association, highlighted the strike’s impact, especially in delaying resolution across commercial, labor, criminal, and constitutional sectors.

Since the commencement of the protests, the judicial processes have faced significant disruptions, reminiscent of the delays experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, more than 80% of the association’s members are in favor of continuing the work stoppage. They believe it’s crucial for supporting those affected, respecting democratic values, and responding to actions of unconstitutionality currently under Supreme Court review.

Gómez Llanos mentioned that on or after October 17, the association would reassess their position regarding the strike, recognizing that some lawyers believe there are alternative methods for legal advocacy without halting judicial operations.

With the ongoing strike in the Federal Judiciary, various industries are on edge as judicial reforms are expected to impact business operations. The delay in resolving legal disputes poses financial and operational challenges, similar to those experienced during earlier public health crises. Interests in labor, commerce, and other sectors are keenly watching the situation unfold, as these reforms could bring about significant changes in how legal matters are handled, further amplifying the need for a resolution to the cessation.

In the interim, legal firms are exploring other channels and solutions to address client needs, striving to maintain some degree of operational normalcy amidst the prevailing uncertainty. While many remain committed to the strike as a means of advocating for necessary changes, the eagerness to see reforms through suggests that the industry anticipates a shift in judicial processes and its implications on broader economic activities.
