The landslide at Lomas Conjunto Residencial continues to progress towards the northern slope, as per the Municipal Civil Protection director Miguel Ángel Ceballos. The area on Avenida Montes Escandinavo, especially its southern part, remains the most affected, with over 44 homes marked in red.
“The crack on Montes Escandinavos is moving northwards, now crossing to the slope and already impacting the northern part of Lomas Conjunto,” said Ceballos.
On Tuesday, six additional homes in Privada Herradura on Calle Cañón El Salado were marked in yellow due to settling in the backyard areas. “This adds up to 99 homes marked in either yellow or red; the houses are not directly affected yet, but the backyards are splitting,” Ceballos explained.
He emphasized that while the slide is moving north, the homes recently marked in Privada Herradura are not yet directly impacted. However, the southern area of Avenida Montes Escandinavo, where over 44 homes have been evacuated, presents a significant risk.
“We urge residents to leave due to the danger. We have a significant slide with over three meters of depth, and some homes have descended even further,” he detailed. Recovering areas affected by landslides in Tijuana has proven difficult, with no reports of successful rehabilitation so far.
