#### Municipal Government of La Paz Responds to Audit Observations
Pavel Castro Ríos, the Secretary General of the Municipal Government of La Paz, recently stated that nearly all observations made by the Superior Audit Office of the State of Baja California Sur (ASEBCS) have been addressed. This follows a review of the 2022 fiscal year by ASEBCS, which initially flagged 116 issues, of which 97 required further clarification. These unresolved observations accounted for a total of 427,605,097.35 pesos.
According to the audit, the first year under Mayor Milena Quiroga Romero saw 116 observations, with 97 still pending at the time of the initial review. Castro Ríos reported significant progress, claiming over 90% of the issues have been resolved. The final ASEBCS report will be submitted to the State Congress for further analysis and voting, expected to occur in October.
Castro Ríos expressed confidence that everything would be in order when the new legislative body reviews the fiscal year. He acknowledged the numerous recommendations, which he stated are instrumental in regulating and improving the administrative functions of the La Paz municipality.
Efforts to resolve the flagged issues have involved a coordinated approach, especially in areas such as payroll, inventory reconciliation, and form submissions. Specific challenges, including accounting harmonization and the establishment of physical storage facilities, are still being worked on. The ultimate goal is to ensure that no significant irregularities remain unresolved.
