Justice for Martín Closure

**Justice Pursued After Tragic Death at Medical Clinic** Families seek closure a year after Martín’s devastating passing due to alleged negligence at Baja California’s International Specialties Clinic. Demands for accountability echo amid ongoing concerns over medical oversight.

**Closure Demanded for Medical Clinic Following Tragic Death of Young Boy**

It has been a year since the heart-wrenching death of 11-year-old Martín Damián González, and his family continues to demand justice in Mexicali. The young boy passed away on November 5, 2023, following an alleged case of medical negligence at the International Specialties Clinic. This clinic, operated by David Cervantes, who is affiliated with Baja California’s official circles, was the focus of a recent protest by Martín’s family and friends.

The boy’s father, Martín González, stated that on October 30, they marked a year since Martín had been discharged from the clinic without receiving adequate medical care after suffering a head injury at school. Martín’s family has called for the closure of the clinic, citing negligence and claiming other similar tragic incidents have occurred there.

“We are demanding that this clinic be closed. It’s showing a pattern of negligence. We want to prevent it from dealing with children and the people who genuinely need medical attention,” González declared.

The family has filed a complaint, but no hearings have yet been scheduled, which they attribute to the clinic’s owner, David Cervantes, receiving protection due to his connections with Baja California’s governor.

Fernanda Hernández, Martín’s aunt, reported that the boy was only given an injection when he was vomiting, treated by an unlicensed trainee for scarcely two minutes. “His examination lasted about a minute and a half, without a professional certification or a licensed doctor’s supervision,” Hernández stated.

The protest was joined by Beatriz Zamora, who also lost a loved one allegedly due to negligent practices at the clinic, citing a critical incident involving the lack of crucial medical supplies.

As the anniversary of Martín’s passing approaches, his family continues to fight for justice, not just for themselves but for other potential victims as well.

**Ongoing Concerns Regarding Medical Negligence in Baja California**

In light of increasing incidents of medical negligence in Baja California, members of the community are calling for more stringent oversight and regulation of healthcare facilities. Several families have lost loved ones in situations that mirror Martín Damián’s tragic experience, sparking anger and demands for accountability.

While official investigations are slow to progress, some attribute the delays to political interference and the powerful connections certain clinic operators maintain within the region. Activists are pressing for legal reforms to ensure timely and fair audits of medical practices to safeguard public health.

These growing protests underscore a broader demand for systemic change in healthcare oversight, alongside personal stories of tragedy that drive the quest for justice in memory of those lost.
