### Juan Marcos Gutiérrez González Announces Candidacy for PAN’s General Secretariat

Juan Marcos Gutiérrez González, a lawyer from Tijuana, has officially announced his candidacy for the General Secretariat of the National Action Party (PAN) at a national level. He is running alongside Adriana Dávila Fernández, who is vying for the party’s presidency.

During a press conference, Gutiérrez González expressed frustration over the National Organizing Commission for the Election of the Executive Committee’s (Conocen) actions, citing a lack of fairness. According to him, Conocen held a formal media event to present the official registration of Jorge Romero’s candidacy for party leadership, while Gutiérrez González’s slate was not given the same opportunity.

“We started with complaints. Yesterday [Wednesday], Conocen held a media event to announce Jorge Romero’s registration, but our slate wasn’t offered a similar event in due time,” he explained. He criticized the current PAN leadership under Marko Cortés, asserting that the party had moved away from democratic principles over past years, favoring instead backroom deals, illegal agreements, and distribution of positions and favors.

Gutiérrez González emphasized the public interest nature of political parties in Mexico, as outlined in Article 41 of the Mexican Constitution. He called for the PAN to be open about its strengths and weaknesses and committed to addressing those weaknesses if elected.

The process of renewing national leadership began at the end of August with the collection of signatures. The candidates who secure the most signatures will face an election by party members on November 10.
