**Shelter “Embajadores de Jesús” Seeks Donations for a Christmas Posada for Migrant Children**
Tijuana – The “Embajadores de Jesús” shelter is reaching out to the community for support in organizing a festive Christmas posada for the migrant children residing there. Anel Ortiz, coordinator of the migration department of Omades A.C, has issued an appeal to local authorities, citizens, and social groups to join this initiative, which aims to bring joy and create lasting memories for children who have migrated from different parts of the world.
Ortiz emphasized the importance of this event, stating, “The primary goal is to bring happiness and create a joyful memory for the residents of the shelter, who have been through very tough situations.” This traditional celebration is set to take place on December 18th at the shelter, starting from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, featuring dinner, candies, and the breaking of a Christmas piñata.
The shelter currently houses around 1,400 individuals, with nearly 60% being children, teenagers, and newborns accompanied by their parents. The organizers are seeking assistance to purchase tamales, each priced at 35 pesos, with a requirement of around 1,400 tamales in total.
Community members who wish to contribute can donate cash, candies, toys, and other festive items. Donations can be made at the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe parish in San Diego and the “Comida Calientita” association located in the Zona Centro. Ortiz noted, “This is a binational event, with assistance from the San Diego parish in Chicano Park helping collect candies, while in Tijuana, the colegio vivero gathered sweets.”
