### Parents Protest Over Lack of Classes at Insurgentes Elementary School

Parents of students from the Federal Insurgentes Elementary School in the Infonavit Villas de Baja California neighborhood staged a protest this morning due to the ongoing issue of insufficient classroom instruction. Claudia, a parent of a fourth-grade student, expressed frustration over the consistent shortage of teachers since her child started first grade.

“My daughter only had classes for two months in first grade. Then, in second grade, she only had a teacher for half of the year, and in third grade, she was without a teacher for a month,” Claudia explained.

Parents have approached the Public Education Secretariat multiple times to resolve this issue. An interim teacher was temporarily assigned to help students catch up with their studies. “The interim teacher assisted a bit, but the children remain significantly behind,” Claudia noted.

With the current teacher set to go on maternity leave soon, parents are concerned about further disruptions. “The principal assured us there would be no issue and that a substitute would be available, but now it seems there won’t be one,” Claudia added.

### Teachers Continue Partial Strike, Cite Incomplete Salary Payments

In a related issue, many teachers in the Baja California region are continuing a partial strike, protesting against incomplete salary payments. This situation has added to the educational disruptions faced by students.

A regional education representative acknowledged the problem, stating that efforts are ongoing to address the salary discrepancies. However, there is no clear timeline for when the issue will be resolved.

### School Uniform Vendors Recover Post Teacher Protests

On a more positive note, vendors of school uniforms have seen a recovery in sales following recent protests by educators. The protests had previously caused a dip in sales as uncertainties loomed over the school schedule.

Local vendor Maria Guzman mentioned, “We have started seeing more customers now that families are preparing for the new school year despite the ongoing issues.”

### Transportation Challenges for UABC Students

Students of the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) face long wait times and high transportation costs, a situation yet to be resolved. This adds another layer of challenge for parents and students managing educational commitments.

### High Temperatures Cause Power Outages in Tijuana

Several neighborhoods in Tijuana have experienced power outages due to extreme temperatures. “The weekend saw a higher number of power cuts in the city,” said city official Miguel Ceballos.

### Vertical Construction to Expand in Eastern Tijuana

Development plans include expanding vertical construction to the eastern areas of Tijuana. Property owners are currently awaiting new leasing investments to proceed with these plans.

### Wildfire in Tecate Causes Severe Damage

A recent wildfire in Tecate has resulted in the destruction of homes in rural areas and the death of numerous animals. “Dozens of animals have suffered burns or have died,” reported Enrique García, a local authority.

Parents of Insurgentes Elementary School are demanding immediate action to resolve the shortage of teachers, emphasizing that the educational future of their children is at stake.
