The Institute of Sport in Tijuana is gearing up to host its annual Year-End Athletic Race on December 31, 2024. This popular event, confirmed on a recent Friday by Wellness Secretary Erik Morales and IMDET Director Carlos King Ristori, promises to end the year on an invigorating note with a family-friendly atmosphere.
Scheduled to begin at 7:15 AM at Plaza Alameda, the 5-kilometer race will serve as both the starting point and finish line. Erik Morales emphasized the significance of closing the year with a vibrant sporting activity that encourages community participation.
Carlos King, in revealing the details of the race, took a moment to honor the memory of the beloved local wrestling figure, Rey Misterio, who recently passed away. King noted that they expect around 1,500 participants for this race, each of whom will receive a commemorative medal upon completion.
In a heartening gesture, the event will also have a charitable aspect, encouraging participants to bring donations of cleaning supplies. Registration for the race is open from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, at the IMDET office, located at the CREA Sports Complex.
