**IMDECUF Supplies Sports Equipment to High Schools in the State Capital**

Recently, four high schools from the DGETI system in the state capital received a boost in their sports programs thanks to a donation of equipment from the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Mexicali (IMDECUF). The event took place at the Cetis No. 75 campus in González Ortega and was attended by the city mayor and other prominent figures.

The initiative aims to support the “Changing Habits” program, designed to encourage physical activity and combat sedentarism among the city’s youth. IMDECUF Director, Valerio III Camargo García, emphasized the importance of reducing health issues caused by inactivity, noting that over 70% of the population is affected by sedentary lifestyles.

Under this initiative, each school received an ample supply of sports equipment, including six soccer balls, six basketballs, six volleyballs, a volleyball net, and a ball bag. The total investment in these resources exceeded 30,000 pesos. The directors and students from each institution personally received the equipment, marking a significant step towards promoting healthier lifestyles among high school students.

By distributing these athletic resources, IMDECUF reaffirms its commitment to fostering an active lifestyle among Mexicali’s youth, helping ensure they remain physically engaged and healthy.

**Secondary Article: Growth of Sports Programs Nationwide**

In line with local efforts in Mexicali, schools across the country are seeing an increase in sports-related activities as educational institutions recognize the importance of physical education in combating health problems like obesity and cardiovascular disease. Various governments have launched campaigns to integrate sports more robustly into school curricula, with numerous districts reporting enhanced student morale and academic performance as a result of these programs.

Research has consistently shown that students who engage in regular physical activity are not only healthier but also perform better academically. Thus, initiatives to support sports in schools are increasingly seen as an investment in future healthcare cost savings and improved educational outcomes.

To support this movement, several private companies and non-profit organizations have teamed up with educational institutions to provide necessary funding and resources for sports programs, ensuring that students from low-income families also have access to the benefits of staying physically active.

The national focus on promoting sports in schools indicates a growing awareness of the critical role physical activity plays in developing well-rounded, healthy, and successful young adults.
