The prosecution now holds images of the individuals who displayed a threatening banner against Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, this past Saturday in Mexicali, according to María Elena Andrade Ramírez, head of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

“There has been progress, we have detected some images in this case, which initially misrepresented the governor but commented on the alleged activities of the State Citizen Security Force (FESC) agents,” stated the general prosecutor.

Andrade Ramírez emphasized that a threatening banner does not necessarily verify the truth of the allegations written on it. She also highlighted that the FESC has made significant drug and firearm seizures.

“They are investigating; I don’t know if the FESC agents have already been called in to testify. What I do know is that I communicated with the prosecutor this morning, and they were reviewing videos and had some images. In due course, they will carry out the necessary statements they consider appropriate,” she explained.

This is the third occurrence of a threatening banner involving a public official in Baja California.

The first incident took place on Saturday, August 10, targeting former municipal government secretary Miguel Ángel Bujanda Ruiz, who later resigned due to the threats.

On August 13, another banner, accompanied by animal remains, emerged in Tecate, aiming at María Elena Andrade Ramírez.

“We always have to stay aware; this is a risky job. Here, work is done straightforwardly, without commitments to anyone, only to the institutional task,” expressed Andrade Ramírez.
