**Lost Husky Causes Stir at Ensenada’s Animal Care Center**

In an unexpected turn of events, a family in Ensenada is desperately searching for a beloved pet after the Centro de Atención Canina y Felina de Ensenada (CACYFE) misplaced their husky, Freia. The situation unfolded after the Ensenada Municipal Public Security Director’s Ecological Police reported online that they had rescued an allegedly abandoned dog in the Pedregal Playitas area.

Responding to a call about a dog tied to a post on public property at Zafiro and Playa Alta Street, the Subdirectorate of Crime Prevention found Freia and transported her to the CACYFE. Identified as a husky, Freia had vanished from her home eight days prior with another dog, of whom only one returned home.

The family was informed of Freia’s whereabouts by a public official named Miguel Posadas. He stated that the family couldn’t reclaim Freia without the dog’s vaccination card and warned of possible euthanasia if the documentation wasn’t provided. Unfortunately, by the time the family arrived with the necessary paperwork, Freia had allegedly escaped from the center.

The local animal care center has since initiated an investigation, planning to inform the Municipal Internal Affairs Unit about the situation to ensure comprehensive inquiries. Moreover, the Urban Management, Ecology, and Environment Department has temporarily relieved the on-duty municipal employee during the incident.

Efforts are underway, coordinated between the CACYFE and Ecological Police, to find Freia and reunite her with her family. The center has vowed to strengthen security protocols to prevent future occurrences like this.

**Rising Concerns Over Animal Shelter Management Across Regions**

This incident in Ensenada isn’t isolated, as concerns over animal care centers’ management practices are rising across different regions. In recent months, various shelters have faced scrutiny due to similar issues involving lost or mishandled pets.

In several cases, pet owners reported difficulties in reclaiming their animals, often citing bureaucratic challenges. Transparency and accountability within these shelters have become a hot topic, prompting communities to call for better management and improved procedures to safeguard animal welfare.

Animal organizations emphasize the need for proper training and protocols to ensure that rescued animals are cared for responsibly. These incidents underline an urgent demand for reforms in animal shelter operations to rebuild public trust and ensure the safety of animals under their protection.

As communities continue to rally for better conditions and management at animal shelters, authorities and local governments are finding themselves under increased pressure to enhance regulations and oversight for the welfare of these animals.
