### Patronato del HGT Aims to Raise 200,000 Pesos for Childhood Cancer Costs

On October 10th, Tijuana will host the “Traveling Through Life” conference led by grief specialist Gaby Pérez Islas. The event aims to collect funds for the General Hospital of Tijuana’s (HGT) Board of Trustees. These funds will be used to cover medical expenses, treatments, nutrition, supplies, and other essential resources for children with cancer currently receiving treatment at HGT.

Carolina Reyes Parra, the General Director of the HGT Board of Trustees, stated that the hospital’s oncology department treats 70% of the state’s child cancer patients. She further explained that about 180 children, either under ongoing surveillance or active treatment in the oncology department, will benefit if the expected 200,000 pesos are raised from ticket sales.

“The main areas supported by the board are supplies, medications, and specialized studies,” Reyes Parra pointed out. She encouraged the community to support the cause by attending the conference and purchasing tickets through the Boletopolis platform at BLT.MX/OFA.

### Secondary Article: Challenges in Pediatric Healthcare

**Urgent Need for Neonatal Nutrition Solutions at HGT**

In addition to the efforts to support child cancer patients, HGT faces pressing needs in other areas, such as neonatal care. The hospital urgently requires attention to provide parenteral nutrition to infants in the neonatal unit.

**Late-Stage Cancer Diagnoses in Children**

Approximately 70% of childhood cancer diagnoses occur at an advanced stage, highlighting the critical need for timely medical attention to improve early detection and treatment outcomes.

**Community Involvement in Neonatal Care**

Addressing these health challenges, the HGT also calls for community involvement to enhance neonatal care services, as timely and adequate nutrition is vital for the development and survival of neonates.

By raising awareness and funds through events like “Traveling Through Life,” the HGT Board of Trustees aims to improve the quality of life for vulnerable children and ensure they receive the necessary medical care and support.
