Hispanic Heritage at Disneyland

Embrace Hispanic and Latin American culture at Disneyland Resort with vibrant festivities, beloved Encanto characters, musical showcases, traditional cuisine, and a touching “Love & Traditions” mural. Join the celebration!

### Celebrating Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month at Disneyland Resort

In celebration of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, Disneyland Resort is embracing vibrant cultural festivities. A standout for visitors is the inclusion of beloved characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto.” Isabela and Luisa join Mirabel outside the Rancho del Zócalo Restaurant in Frontierland, bringing delightful interactions to life.

Over at Disney California Adventure, Miguel captures the heart of family ties through music and dance as part of the “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco!” event. This celebration of family, heritage, and music is a must-see for guests of all ages.

Food also takes center stage during this festive period. Guests can savor delicious dishes like the Cuban torta at Rancho del Zócalo, the stuffed Pan Dulce at Award Wieners, and traditional Salvadoran pupusas from the Vchos food truck near the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage. The area will be bustling with activities, including performances by DJs, a mariachi quartet, the Pacifico Dance Company, and Son Habana until October 15.

The Emporium store window on Main Street U.S.A. is ornately decorated, alongside an array of culinary and entertainment offerings at the Plaza de la Familia in Disney California Adventure, featuring characters from “Coco.” Highlighting these festivities is the “Love and Traditions” mural in the Downtown Disney District, celebrating the Day of the Dead. Created by three members of Disneyland Resort’s Resort Enhancement team, this mural reflects familial love and traditions. The mural incorporates vivid elements such as candles, marigold flowers, and a bridge of marigolds symbolizing the passage of ancestors from the realm of the dead to the living world.

Ashley Flores, the designer and leader of this creative project, worked with artists Ramona Garcia and Danielle Lopez. Flores credits her family’s support, particularly her father’s influence through his work on various Disneyland attractions, in her journey to becoming a Disney artist. The mural’s centerpiece features an altar with photos, food, candles, and flowers commemorating deceased relatives. Additionally, it highlights music traditions from celebrations such as La Calabiuza in El Salvador and the Fèt Gede in Haiti.

“I hope visitors feel the love emanating from this mural and are reminded of the importance of family,” said Ashley. “It’s about cherishing the here and now and preserving the wisdom passed down from those no longer with us.” The “Love and Traditions” mural will be on display until November 2.
