### Nearly Half a Ton of Synthetic Drugs Seized at Nuevo Mexicali-Mexicali II Checkpoint

A truck driver was apprehended for transporting nearly 500 kilograms of synthetic drugs by elements of the National Guard, in collaboration with the National Customs Agency of Mexico.

The events occurred at the Nuevo Mexicali-Mexicali II checkpoint when a white tractor-trailer with a dry box was stopped after responding to a red light at the customs inspection point. The truck was attempting to enter the United States. According to the driver, the truck was carrying dental supplies intended for Calexico, California. However, upon inspection, authorities discovered a black plastic bag and 13 cardboard boxes that were not listed in the presented documents.

During the inspection, authorities found nine packages of cocaine weighing 10.2 kilograms inside the bag. Additionally, 39 packages of fentanyl, weighing 41.1 kilograms, were discovered in one of the boxes. The remaining boxes contained 199 packages of methamphetamine weighing 446.3 kilograms.

After reading the detainee’s rights, the driver was registered in the National Detention Registry, and the seized cargo was handed over to the Federal Public Ministry for further investigation.

These actions were part of the federal government’s Public Security Strategy and Zero Impunity policy in Baja California.
