### Haidee Viviana Aceves Secures Second Silver Medal at Paris 2024 Paralympics
Haidee Viviana Aceves has achieved her second silver medal in para swimming at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, securing her spot on the podium in the 50-meter backstroke S2 event.
Competing at the Paris La Défense Arena, Aceves finished the race with a time of 1:08.96 minutes. Her recent achievements have truly turned her dreams into reality.
“Yes, I did imagine it, but to actually achieve it feels surreal. Competing in the Paralympics means anything can happen, and winning two medals here is indescribable,” Aceves shared.
In the qualifying rounds, Aceves set a new Americas record, but she did not let this early success make her overconfident for the finals.
“I didn’t come in confident that I would be on the podium, but I did believe in performing well. I give my best effort and put my heart into every competition. Although I didn’t better my time, I am extremely happy with the result,” she said.
Now competing in her fourth Paralympic Games, the long-awaited reward finally came for Aceves. At the age of 31, she reflects on the emotional journey to the podium.
“It’s like a movie in your head when you’re up there. My tears in the 100-meter event reflected my disbelief. Standing on a Paralympic podium, especially in Paris, is incredible. You remember all the struggles and the good moments—it’s unique,” she added.
Reflecting on her early days, Aceves recalls how she was initially reluctant to get into the pool, a therapy recommended by doctors in her hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco.
“I started my rehabilitation journey at CRIT where the adventure began. Initially, I was afraid of the pool. Winning two Paralympic medals now and looking back at all that is truly unbelievable,” she stated.
Aceves will have one last chance to compete at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in the 100-meter freestyle S3 event scheduled for September 3rd at the Paris La Défense Arena.
