### 13,323 Credits Approved by the Secretariat of Economic Development

The Secretariat of Economic Development has announced the approval of 13,323 credits through the Tijuana Funds Trust, supporting the local community. Luis Cañedo, the Secretariat’s head, revealed this information during the presentation of the third government report.

These credits amount to a total of $357.9 million pesos across various programs, with the self-employment initiative being the most successful. Other notable programs include “Emprende tu Futuro” for recent graduates, “Strengthening Small and Medium Enterprises,” and “Boosting Strategic Projects.”

Interestingly, 97% of the available funds were allocated to micro-employment, with 50% of beneficiaries aged between 25 to 44 years. Additionally, 64.2% of the credits were granted to women, while men received 35.8%.

Cañedo emphasized that a budget of just over 50 million pesos would be sufficient for the next administration to continue these programs.

The areas of La Presa Este, La Presa ALR, and San Antonio de los Buenos accounted for 58% of the beneficiaries, with a total of 10,300 credits fully repaid to date.

“This is crucial for the formalization of businesses,” explained Cañedo, referencing the System for Rapid Business Start-Up (SARE), which aids in securing necessary permits to launch a business. The main areas showing interest in regularizing their businesses were Zona Centro, La Mesa, and Otay.

The SARE system has expedited the acquisition of operational licenses to three days, increased the commercial catalog from 235 to 273 items, and seen a 61% rise in new business openings.

Another significant program called “Fast Line” has facilitated border crossings predominantly for medical service users. The program saw 38,351 crossings in 2021, growing to 610,351 in 2022, 551,982 in 2023, and 379,494 by the end of 2024, generating $451.4 million pesos in revenue.

The Fast Line for trans-border students registered 200 students from 119 families, facilitating around 2,380 monthly crossings. This initiative generated over $2.5 million pesos.
