**FGR Conducts Raids and Seizes Hotel Remy in Tijuana**
On Tuesday, December 3, the Federal General Attorney (FGR) executed a raid and secured Hotel Remy in Tijuana. The operation was conducted following suspicions that the establishment was a hub for a human trafficking ring, often referred to as “coyotes.”
The property is located on Boulevard Díaz Ordaz in the Contreras neighborhood. According to sources, the inspection was part of a larger federal investigation, with agents from the FGR working in conjunction with military personnel and the National Guard. During the operation, logs were examined, and interviews were conducted with staff while security camera recordings were reviewed, all of which will contribute to the ongoing investigation.
Reports indicate that the human trafficking ring operating from the hotel was linked to a tragic incident on November 4 in the La Rumorosa delegation in Tecate. During this incident, members of the National Guard opened fire on a vehicle traveling on the Tecate-Tijuana highway at kilometer mark 62+500. The vehicle, a white Nissan X-Terra driven by a Mexican national, carried migrants from Colombia. These individuals had been misled, being promised safe passage to the border wall for an illegal crossing into the United States.
The attack tragically resulted in the deaths of Ronaldo Andrés Quintero Peñuelas, aged 20, and Yuli Vanessa Herrera Marulanda, aged 37. Four others were wounded and required medical treatment at a hospital. Following the armed confrontation, several members of the trafficking ring fled to Tijuana.
As investigations continue, Hotel Remy remains under federal guard.

**Secondary Article: Recent Crackdowns on Human Trafficking in Mexico**
In recent months, Mexico has intensified its efforts to combat human trafficking, particularly as organized groups exploit migrants attempting to reach the United States. Authorities have increased operations targeting known trafficking hotspots, deploying federal agents, military personnel, and the National Guard.
These measures come in response to growing international pressure and tragic incidents involving migrant fatalities and abuses. Collaborative investigations across state and federal levels have been crucial in identifying and dismantling networks involved in these illegal activities.
The Mexican government has also focused on offering support and protection to victims of trafficking, ensuring access to legal aid, medical care, and psychological support. Meanwhile, international human rights organizations continue to monitor Mexico’s efforts, advocating for continued progress in securing migrants’ safety and prosecuting those responsible for trafficking.
