In a concerted effort to locate two individuals reported missing, the Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Baja California has launched specialized search operations in Tijuana. These measures were undertaken by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation and Prosecution of Crimes of Forced Disappearance and Disappearance Committed by Individuals.

On October 13, 2024, the FGE announced that the first operation took place in the Aeropuerto and Libertad neighborhoods. This search aimed to find Ángel Hassiel Franco, a 21-year-old who was last seen on September 26, 2024, leaving his home in the Libertad neighborhood. The search team initiated their efforts on Constelación Street, canvassing the main streets and avenues in the area. Ángel Hassiel Franco is described as having a height of 1.65 meters, light brown skin, a slim build, and dark eyes and hair.

The second operation targeted the Villas del Campo neighborhood in a similar “search in life” initiative to locate Javier Romero Vázquez, a 43-year-old man last seen on May 4, 2024, in the area. Flyers and notices were distributed on lampposts, stores, and houses to gather information that could lead to his whereabouts. He is described as 1.80 meters tall with light brown skin, straight eyebrows, dark brown eyes, black hair, and a weight of 70kg. Notably, he has a tattoo of a rose on one arm, a quote “Por amor a mi familia” on the other, and a crown tattoo on his neck. A reward of 500,000 pesos has been announced for information leading to his discovery.

These searches involved various bodies, including the State Search Commission, the National Guard, the State Citizen Security Force, the Public Ministry, and the State Investigation Agency.
