## Fire and Threats at Tax Accounting Office in Ensenada: Banner with Accusations and Attempted Arson
On the night of November 12th, a fire and threatening banner were reported at the office building of Márquez Navarro Ceseña S.C., a tax accounting firm in downtown Ensenada. Firefighters received an emergency call about a fire at around 10:50 PM in the building located on Alvarado Street, between Seventh and Eighth streets.
Simultaneously, Ensenada’s Municipal Public Safety Department was alerted to the presence of a banner with an intimidating message at the site. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vinyl banner hung outside the building, which displayed images and names of the owners’ family members alongside serious and defamatory accusations. The banner was quickly removed by authorities. The message, written in capital letters, accused: “THIS FAMILY HANDLES OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY AS A SERVICE, USING SHELL COMPANIES. ONCE THEY HAVE THE MONEY, THEY SPEND IT WITHOUT EXPLANATION, STEALING FROM PEOPLE. THEY PRETEND TO BE WEALTHY, CLAIMING TO BE TAX ACCOUNTANTS, BUT IN REALITY, THEY ARE THIEVES AND FRAUDSTERS. PAY BACK THE 3 MILLION DOLLARS YOU STOLE, YOU KNOW WHO TO PAY.”
Inside the building, investigators found signs of an attempted fire in the exterior hallway, including a clear plastic bottle containing a suspicious liquid, likely an accelerant.
Despite material damages to the reception area, windows, and main entrance, no injuries were reported. Authorities secured the scene and have launched an investigation. State investigators have been gathering evidence to clarify the incident. This occurrence reflects growing security concerns in the region, with no details yet provided about potential suspects or motives behind the threats.
