Ensenada Police Under Probe

Authorities are probing Ensenada’s police officers for forced disappearances, with arrests made and investigations ongoing amid broader concerns of police corruption in Baja California, sparking a call for systemic change.

### Investigation into Ensenada Municipal Officers for Forced Disappearance

A troubling case in Ensenada has led to an investigation involving local police officers suspected of forced disappearance. Following the report of several young people going missing in Valle de Guadalupe, specifically in Ejido El Porvenir, six municipal police officers have been detained, while two others are currently evading capture.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) disclosed that the individuals missing since March 6 were between the ages of 19 and 22, originating from Sinaloa and Tijuana. As families arrived to search for them, it was found they were not among the six people detained that same night in a vehicle on Tierra Santa and Monte Parnaso street, on the way to Los Olivares.

The detained were handed over to the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic (FGR) for possession of firearms and toxic substances. During further investigation, evidence suggested the presence of at least four other young people at a ranch associated with the incident. The ranch owner contended that five individuals had gone missing, noting he had hired 11 workers for field tasks.

During official probes, traces of blood and personal documents were found, supporting the theory that the missing individuals had been at the location. Witnesses also testified seeing municipal police officers there. Due to inconsistencies in official reports, the FGE has issued arrest warrants for several municipal officers, capturing six thus far, with two still at large. Federal forces have been called upon to assist in the ongoing investigations and to locate the fugitive officers.
