In a recent trial, the General State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) through the Specialized Prosecution for Crimes Against Life successfully secured a conviction of 47 years and 6 months in prison for Irving Duarte Ávila, who was found guilty of the feminicide of his intimate partner, María Guadalupe Fuentes Valladares, aged 23.

The tragic event took place on February 5, 2022, around 6:10 AM, at a residence in the Morelos I neighborhood of Ensenada. The convicted, Irving Duarte Ávila, attacked María Guadalupe with a sharp object, inflicting a fatal wound to her neck, resulting in her death from acute hemorrhage. Following the murder, Duarte set the house on fire, leading to extensive burns on the victim’s body and complete destruction of the residence.

Municipal officers apprehended Duarte later that same day while he was caught in the act. He was subsequently presented before a control judge, who ruled the detention lawful and initiated the legal process on February 6, 2022.
