Ensenada, B.C. – Closing out March’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month with a significant impact, Ensenada has successfully completed a large-scale beach cleanup at Playa Hermosa, near the El Gallo stream. The collective efforts of volunteers and officials resulted in an impressive haul of over 900 kilograms of trash, demonstrating the power of community action.

The beach cleanup was spearheaded by Mayor Claudia Agatón Muñiz, who was joined by around 100 enthusiastic volunteers from various city departments including Wellness, Education, Youth, Ecology, and Environment. Support also came from specialized environmental teams such as Zofemat, as well as participation from the Navy, the Ensenada Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education (Cicese), local fire services, and councilors Ana Daniela García Salgado and Jorge Eduardo Vega Zamora.

Beyond trash collection, the event highlighted the critical importance of safeguarding water and natural resources.
