### Over 900 Kilos of Trash Collected in Ensenada Beach Cleanup
Ensenada, B.C. – Wrapping up March’s focus on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, the community of Ensenada demonstrated its commitment to the environment with a significant cleanup effort at Playa Hermosa, near the mouth of El Gallo stream. More than 900 kilograms of trash were removed, underscoring the positive impact that unified community efforts can have.
Leading the initiative was Mayor Claudia Agatón Muñiz, supported by approximately 100 volunteers hailing from various city departments, including Wellness, Education, Youth, Ecology, and Environment. The endeavor also received assistance from the Navy, the Ensenada Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education (Cicese), local fire services, and council members Ana Daniela García Salgado and Jorge Eduardo Vega Zamora.
The cleanup emphasized the necessity of safeguarding our water and natural assets. It served as a motivator for locals to engage in environmental preservation, made possible when communities unite for a shared cause. Throughout March, the city organized three “Water Guardians Fairs” at local primary schools to instill conservation values in younger generations.
This initiative is a shining example of communal action, highlighting that everyone’s contribution counts in keeping our beaches pristine. Look out for further opportunities to take part in preserving the natural beauty of our coastal areas.
